SoGlo Gallery is proud to present “Lyrical Abstraction” New Paintings and Drawings by Motte Thomas. Mr Thomas is a local artist working out of Brunswick over the past 5 years, including participation at the local art hot spot “Brunswick Stewdio”. Motte’s fantastical works are represented by the premiere Texas gallery Luminarte’ Fine Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas. His most recent local exhibition was held at Glynn Visual Arts Center located on St Simon’s Island, Georgia., where he showcased an amazing series of encaustic wax and oil paintings, a culmination of 5 years of creative efforts.

Motte Thomas’s new paintings and drawings have stepped boldly into the world of abstraction combined with a surrealist twist and are a real treat for the senses. The colorful large works are derived from Motte’s personal exploration of abstract expressionism that involves working directly with his subconscious mind to create most of the imagery. He utilizes references to real world forms, colorful organic shapes, wild geometric and sensuous automatic painting gestures, altered in conceptual ways to express an amazing variety of abstract ideas. Mr Thomas likens many of the works in this powerful new series to musical free form jazz compositions, which communicate emotion in a completely abstract, but lyrical manner. “I’m seeking something that can never be fully defined or explained other than through viewing my art.” The works are offered for sale through SoGlo Gallery during the exhibition.
